Day 1 Addis Ababa
Arrive at bole international airport and transfer you to your hotel. Then; you will have a city tour in Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa is the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU) with more than 70 embassies and consular representatives in the city. Addis Ababa is the Diplomatic capital of Africa. The city tour includes the national museum, home of Lucy and other hominid skeleton dating back 3.2 million years, holy trinity church, Entoto Mountain, to see the city on the top. Entoto was the first capital city of Ethiopia during the time of Emperor Menelik, and on the way down, you will visit Shero meda where you can easily found traditional Ethiopian clothes, Merkato, the biggest open air market place in Africa and other most important places of the city based on your time and interest. Day 2 Bahir Dar (Flight)
Early in the morning, you will be transferred to Bole international airport and fly to the beautiful city Bahir dar. After check in your hotel you will take a boat trip on Lake Tana which is the largest lake in Ethiopia to visit the islands monasteries, such as Ura kidanemihiret and Azwa Mariam.And in the afternoon you will walk around the beautiful city of Bahir Dar. You will finish the day with the spectacular sun set view over the lake. Overnight in Hotel
Day 3 Bahirdar to Lalibela
Early in the morning embark on a full day of driving to Lalibela. Here you will pass through several small villages, Proceed through this rural area for the stunning approach to the home of Ethiopia’s most prized destination – Lalibela. Overnight in hotel
Day 4 Lalibela
Today you will visit the 11 rock hewn churches of Lalibela. In the morning time you will visit the 1st and the 2nd group of the rock hewn churches that are symbolized by earthly Jerusalem and heavenly Jerusalem. And after lunch, you will visit the amazing and the only 3rd group of rock hewn church and the symbolized of arc of Noah that is called St. George. Overnight in Lal hotel.
Day 5 Laibela to Gondar
After breakfast, continue north to Gonder. The road will take you through rural villages, offering wonderful insight into the Amhara culture. After briefly settling in your hotel, and take lunch, you will explore the sights of Gonder including a visit to the Royal enclosure with six castles and several other buildings. Additionally, visit Fasiledes pool, still used for Timket celebration today, and debre birihan sillasie church with the most famous ceiling in Ethiopia. Overnight in hotel
Day 6 Drive to Axum
Aksum is a city in northern Ethiopia. It's known for its tall, carved obelisks, relics of the ancient Kingdom of Aksum. Most are in the northern Stelae Park, including a huge fallen pillar, now in pieces. Centuries-old St. Mary of Zion is a Christian church and pilgrimage site believed to have housed the biblical Ark of the Covenant. The neighboring Chapel of the Tablet is said to contain the Ark today. Overnight in hotel
Day 7 Axum
Today will be a full day visiting the sites of Axum, including the famous obelisks (one that was recently erected after being returned from Italy), the Queen of Sheba’s Bath (which supplies water to Axum year-round), King Bazen’s tomb, and the Queen of Sheba’s Palace. You can also visit the St. Mary of Zion church, where the Ark of the Covenant is kept. Only men are allowed to enter the old church. Unfortunately, no one (except one specially chosen guardian monk) is allowed to enter the chapel where the Ark is kept. Overnight in hotel
Day 8 Drive to Gher'alta
Today, you will drive to Gera’alta monastery and on the way you will visit the Debre Damo monastery. Debre Damo is the name of a flat-topped mountain. The monastery, accessible only by rope up a sheer cliff, 15 m high, is known for its collection of manuscripts and for having the earliest existing church building in Ethiopia that is still in its original style and only men can visit it. Tradition claims the monastery was founded in the 6th century by Abuna Aregawi.Overnight: Gher’alta lodge
Day 9 Gher'alta
Today you will visit the Gher'alta area, with its unique chain of mountains, is the home of the rock churches, some famous for their architecture, ancient paintings and manuscripts and others known for their magnificent view.
Most of the churches are hewn into facades of cliffs and caves. Few churches are monolithic (with four free-standing walls ;) The interiors of the churches represent basilica architecture with three naves and a vestibule. Most of the churches have pillars, vast ceilings, archways, and domes. Magnificent rock carvings, designs, and ancient religious paintings on walls and ceilings make these churches particularly interesting. Overnight: Gher’alta lodge
Day 10 Gher’alta to Mekele
Today you will start your tour back to the capital city of the Tigray region, Mekele. You will pass through many small villages and cities and admire the beautiful nature of the northern part of Ethiopia. Overnight in hotel
Day 11 Mekele- Addis Abeba (Flight)
Early in the morning, you will take your plane to fly back to Addis Ababa by admiring the beautiful landscape beauty of the northern part of Ethiopia. After arrival and had your lunch, you will visit Mercato which is the largest open air market in eastern part of Africa.
In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner party in a traditional restaurant where you will enjoy with the music and dance of the Ethiopian nationalities.
